It was expected for the Frankfurt Motor Show next September but Sergio Marchionne and “his boys” did not want to wait too long. Now, the good news is that the open-air Fiat 500 Cabrio will be officially unveiled six months earlier, at the Geneva Motor Show, next month. Sales are planned to start in April, according to a reliable source.

The source cannot tell yet when first deliveries will take place but the rush is on, in order to deliver as many of them as possible, taking full advantage of the season. Consequent with its mission the “little jewel” will offer an electrically controlled soft-top roof that grants a very wide opening of the very compact four-seater.

From the very beginning, the structure of the Fiat 500 had been designed by the team lead by Roberto Giolito (see picture) to allow for the open frame of the cabrio and this has allowed engineers to move quickly in its development.

With the market in desperate need of anything that can re-animate the demand Fiat engineers and workers are doing their best to rush the car to the market without compromising the quality of the car small and smart “Cabrio”. I can’t wait to see this car in bright colours on the open road, and at the Villa D’Este Concours d’Elegance.
